Meghan Markle Wears Princess Diana’s Iconic Butterfly Earrings During Colombia Visit

Meghan Markle, 42, was spotted on Friday wearing the same butterfly earrings her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana, wore in 1986. The Duchess of Sussex showcased the gold stud earrings during her four-day trip to Colombia with Prince Harry, who is the son of Princess Diana and King Charles III.

Markle wore the sentimental earrings while visiting Colegio La Giralda school in Bogotá’s Santa Fe neighborhood. During the visit, she interacted with a kindergarten class, conversing in Spanish, touring the school, and participating in an art session.

Princess Diana originally wore the butterfly earrings during a 1986 trip to Canada with Prince Charles, when Prince Harry was just a toddler. Markle’s decision to wear these earrings was particularly fitting, as Diana had worked as a kindergarten teacher before becoming a royal.

For the school visit, Markle paired the meaningful earrings with a simple outfit: a white blouse, skinny black trousers, a beige coat, and matching flats. She styled her hair in a bun, ensuring the earrings were prominently displayed.

Markle has shown a preference for these delicate earrings, having worn them during a trip to Australia in October 2018, shortly after announcing her pregnancy with Prince Harry’s first child.
