On Tuesday, Google Gemini unveiled cutting-edge AI features for Android devices, alongside its latest lineup of smartphones and wearables. Among the highlights is Gemini Live, a mobile conversational tool that enables users to engage in natural, free-flowing conversations with the AI. According to Google’s blog, Gemini Live transforms mobile devices into powerful AI assistants.
“With Gemini deeply embedded into Android, we’re reimagining the operating system with AI at its heart, pushing the boundaries of what phones can achieve,” said Sameer Samat, President of the Android Ecosystem.
“We’ve reimagined the assistant experience with Gemini, allowing you to interact with it naturally, just like you would with another person. It’s designed to understand your intent, follow your train of thought, and handle complex tasks with ease,” said Sameer Samat.
Gemini Live, now available for advanced subscribers in English on Android phones, will soon be expanding to Apple’s iOS and additional languages in the coming weeks.
Meanwhile, Apple is anticipated to launch its own AI, Apple Intelligence, on iPhones, iPads, and Macs later this year.
Google also showcased its latest lineup of Pixel smartphones, including the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold, all equipped with Gemini’s AI capabilities.
In addition, the company introduced its newest wearable tech, including the Pixel Watch 3 and Pixel Buds Pro 2 earbuds, during the Made by Google event at their headquarters in Mountain View, California.
