Chicago O’Hare Airport Tragedy: Woman Loses Life in Baggage Carousel Accident
A 57-year-old woman tragically lost her life Thursday morning at Chicago O’Hare International Airport after being caught in a baggage carousel, according to officials who spoke with ABC News.
According to a Department of Labor spokesperson, the woman involved was a member of the public, not an airport worker.
Emergency responders were dispatched to Terminal 5 around 7:45 a.m. on Thursday after receiving reports of a woman “trapped in machinery,” the Chicago Fire Department stated.

Fire officials reported finding the woman “caught in the conveyor belt system designed for moving luggage” upon their arrival.
Medics confirmed her death at the scene.
According to police, surveillance footage revealed that the woman “entered a restricted area, which was unoccupied, at 2:27 a.m.”
She was found around 7:30 a.m., according to police, and emergency responders were immediately dispatched.
The location is now considered a crime scene, with the Chicago Police Department conducting an investigation.
